Common Questions

Courses & Levels

  • Most of our group language courses run over a 10-week term, with one 90-minute class each week.

  • Our group courses are divided into 10-week levels. Complete beginners start at Level 1, and each term builds on the previous one.

As a guide, the A1 beginner stage is completed over several levels, usually around five 10-week courses. This gives you time to build the basics properly rather than rushing through the language.

Level 1 beginner classes start every term, so you don’t need to wait long to begin. Continuing levels run throughout the year, depending on enrolments and student progression.

Course books are used across multiple levels, so you don’t need a new book every term. The course page will tell you which book is required before you enrol.

  • If you’re a complete beginner, start with Level 1. If you’ve studied before, you can check our level structure page to see what is covered in each course. You can also contact us and we’ll help you choose the right class.

  • Classes are structured but relaxed, with a mix of textbook work, guided practice and conversation. You’ll work through key grammar and vocabulary, then use it in speaking and listening activities so it starts to feel natural. There’s usually a small amount of optional homework to help reinforce what you’ve learned between classes.

  • Yes, speaking is an important part of learning, but you won’t be forced to perform or put on the spot. You can participate at your own pace, and teachers create a supportive environment where making mistakes is part of the process.

  • Yes, course books (textbooks) are used during the course unless stated otherwise. They support the course structure and guide you in your own time. They give you a clear reference for grammar, vocabulary, listening activities and homework, but they don’t replace the teacher or the speaking practice in class.

Course books are purchased separately from enrolment and can usually be used across multiple levels (often around five levels). The book you need will be listed on the course page before you enrol.

  • Our classes are small group classes. Numbers vary by course and level, but the aim is always to keep classes friendly, engaging and interactive.

We average 6 students per class and some popular classes can have up to 12 students.
