Gift Cards & Language Gifts Terms

These terms apply to gift cards, gift vouchers and specific language gifts purchased from inLanguage Boutique (“ILB”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
They should be read together with the relevant product description, our Course Enrolment Terms, Returns & Refunds Policy and Shipping & Pickup Policy.
1. Types of gifts
ILB offers:
- flexible-value ILB Gift Cards
- Private Language Lesson Gifts
- Language Course Gifts
- Language Course + Book Gifts
- Language Course Book Gifts
- Travel Language Course Gifts
- selected digital and physical gift-presentation options.
A flexible-value gift card provides store credit.
A specific language gift provides the product or learning experience named in its description.
2. Validity and expiry
Purchased ILB gift cards and specific language gifts are valid for three years from the date of purchase, unless a longer period is stated.
The expiry date will be displayed on or supplied with the gift.
The recipient must redeem the gift or contact ILB to begin arranging it before the expiry date.
Where the recipient contacts ILB before expiry, the gift may be booked into the next suitable available course or lesson even if it begins after the expiry date.
ILB does not charge activation, account-keeping, balance-enquiry or inactivity fees.
3. Flexible-value ILB Gift Cards
An ILB Gift Card holds the monetary value selected at purchase.
It may be used toward eligible products available through the ILB online store, including courses, private lessons, travel courses and books.
The gift card is redeemed using its unique code at checkout.
If the order costs more than the available balance, the recipient must pay the difference.
If the order costs less, the remaining balance stays on the gift card until it is used or the card expires.
Gift cards may be used across multiple purchases while value remains.
Gift cards cannot be used to purchase another gift card and cannot ordinarily be exchanged for cash.
4. Specific language gifts
A specific language gift entitles the recipient to the product or experience described at the time of purchase.
Unless otherwise stated:
- it may be given to another person before redemption
- it may be redeemed once
- it does not automatically reserve a place in a particular class
- course and lesson bookings remain subject to suitability and availability
- the recipient must contact ILB before attending
- the Course Enrolment Terms apply once a course or lesson has been booked.
Selections such as language, location or delivery format indicate the intended gift but do not guarantee a particular teacher, timetable or course place.
5. Private Language Lesson Gift
This gift includes one 60-minute private Italian, French or Spanish lesson, unless the product page states otherwise.
The recipient should contact ILB to arrange:
- the language
- an appropriate teacher
- online or in-person delivery
- an available lesson time.
Once booked, ILB’s private-lesson cancellation and rescheduling rules apply.
6. Language Course Gift
This gift includes one standard 10-week Italian, French or Spanish group course.
The recipient may choose an appropriate available language, level, location and timetable with help from ILB.
Unless stated otherwise, the gift does not include the required course book, private lessons, travel courses, postage or supplementary materials.
7. Language Course + Book Gift
This gift includes:
- one standard 10-week Italian, French or Spanish group course
- one required core course book for the selected language and level.
ILB will confirm the correct book after the recipient’s course and level have been determined.
Postage is included only where this is stated on the product page or at checkout.
8. Language Course Book Gift
This gift includes one current standard Italian, French or Spanish ILB course book.
ILB may contact the purchaser or recipient to confirm the appropriate language, level, title and edition before preparing the order.
The gift does not include a course, workbook or additional materials unless stated otherwise.
9. Travel Language Course Gift
This gift includes one standard five-week Italian, French or Spanish travel course, unless the product page states otherwise.
Travel courses are offered according to ILB’s current timetable and may run in person or online.
The recipient may redeem the gift for the next suitable available course within its validity period.
10. Price changes
A specific language gift redeemed within its validity period will be honoured for the named standard product or experience, even if its usual price later increases.
No top-up is required solely because of a later standard price increase.
Additional payment may be required where the recipient chooses an upgraded or higher-priced product, extra lessons, additional materials or postage not included with the original gift.
11. Changing a specific gift
Before redemption, the recipient may ask to change the language, location, format or gift product.
Changes are subject to suitability, availability and ILB approval.
If the replacement product costs more, the recipient must pay the difference.
If it costs less, ILB may issue the remaining value as a gift card or store credit.
A cash refund is not ordinarily provided for a change of mind.
12. Course suitability and availability
A gift does not guarantee immediate entry into a course.
Bookings remain subject to:
- an appropriate level
- a suitable course being scheduled
- space being available
- minimum enrolments being reached
- any prerequisites shown in the course description.
ILB will help the recipient find an appropriate option.
If ILB cannot provide the named gift within a reasonable period after a valid redemption request, we will offer an appropriate alternative, credit or refund.
13. Redeeming a specific gift
To redeem a specific gift, the recipient should contact ILB and provide reasonable proof of purchase, such as:
- the purchaser’s name
- the order number
- the digital gift confirmation
- the printed voucher.
Once a course or private lesson has been confirmed, the gift is considered redeemed.
After redemption, transfers, missed classes and cancellations are governed by the Course Enrolment Terms.
14. Digital delivery
Digital gift cards and gift confirmations are sent electronically using the details provided at purchase.
The purchaser is responsible for checking the recipient’s email address.
Contact ILB if a gift has been sent to an incorrect address. We will assist with resending it after verifying the purchase, although we cannot guarantee that an incorrectly addressed message has not already been viewed or used.
15. Physical gifts, pickup and postage
Selected gifts may include a printed voucher, gift packaging or a course book.
Physical options may be available for pickup or delivery, as shown on the product page or at checkout.
A printed voucher may accompany the same underlying gift or redemption details supplied digitally.
Physical delivery and pickup are also governed by our Shipping & Pickup Policy.
16. Lost or shared gift codes
Gift-card codes and gift confirmations should be kept secure.
Contact ILB promptly if a card, code or voucher is lost, stolen or sent to the wrong person.
Where ownership can be verified and value remains unused, we may be able to replace the card or resend the gift details.
We cannot ordinarily restore value that has already been redeemed by someone with access to a valid code.
17. Change-of-mind refunds
We do not ordinarily provide refunds for change of mind after:
- a digital gift card has been issued
- a specific gift has been delivered
- personalised physical presentation has been prepared
- a gift has been redeemed
- a course or lesson has been booked.
Before redemption, ILB may approve an exchange or store credit at its discretion.
Any refund approved or required will not exceed the amount originally paid and may be reduced by any amount already used.
Problems involving damaged, faulty or incorrectly supplied physical products are covered by our Returns & Refunds Policy.
18. Promotions and discounted gifts
Promotional, complimentary or discounted gifts may have additional conditions stated with the offer.
Where permitted by law, promotional gifts may have a different validity period if this is clearly disclosed.
Discounts cannot be applied retrospectively or combined unless expressly permitted.
19. Misuse and fraud
Gift cards and vouchers must not be copied, altered, fraudulently obtained or commercially resold without ILB’s permission.
ILB may temporarily suspend redemption while reasonably investigating suspected fraud, payment reversal or unauthorised use.
20. Consumer rights
Our products and services come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in these terms removes any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
